What is Family and Community Engagement?
Clay County School District believes that strong partnerships with families and the community are essential to student success. Our Family and Community Engagement Department is dedicated to fostering meaningful connections between our schools and the communities we serve, creating a supportive network that enhances the educational experience for every student.

Visitor Defined
- Attending a school day function, such as awards or a performance
- Eating lunch with your child
When you come to the school to visit:
Always enter through the front office
Provide ID to front desk to be scanned against the Florida Sexual Offenders and Predators list
Wear your issued badge while on campus
Restrict your visit to only the areas approved by the front office
After your visit, check out at the front office and return your badge
Level 1 Defined
- Completing tasks for teachers or staff, on or off campus
- Helping with picture day
- Monitoring the cafeteria
- Helping with a class party
- Attending a PFA/PTO/SAC meeting
- Chaperoning a whole group field trip
- Level 1 Volunteers are ALWAYS in the presence of a CCDS employee
When you come to the school to visit(Level 1):
Pre-fill out Volunteer Registration at home or in front office
Provide ID to front desk to be scanned against the Florida Sexual Offenders and Predators list
Wear your issued badge while on campus
Complete your volunteer duties
Check out at the front office and return your badge
Level 2 Defined
- Chaperoning a field trip with small groups separate from CCDS employee
- Chaperoning an overnight field trip
- Driving students in a vehicle without a CCDS employee
- Serving as a volunteer coach
When you come to the school to visit(Level2):
(This is the process for volunteers who have completed fingerprinting and have been issued a Level 2 Volunteer badge)
Present Level 2 badge in the front office and check in
Wear your issued Level 2 badge while on campus
Complete your volunteer duties

Important Things to Know Before You Register
Our students’ safety and maintaining campus security is of the utmost importance. This means that all volunteers must register and follow the appropriate screening process. All level 1 volunteers are scanned against the Florida Sexual Offenders and Predators list each time they enter campus or volunteer. All level 2 volunteers are fingerprinted. Volunteer Dos and Don’ts
Volunteers must serve as positive role models and dress appropriately for the environment
Volunteers must ALWAYS work under the supervision of a CCDS employee unless they hold Level 2 clearance
Volunteers must work within established guidelines and procedures of the school and CCDS
Volunteers must not be alone with students at any time unless they have level 2 clearance
Volunteers must not bring other children with them when volunteering
Volunteers must not take pictures of videos of students (except their own) or CCDS employees

Volunteer Screening Information
All volunteers are screened against the Florida Sexual Offenders and Predators list each time they enter campus or volunteer.
Level 2 Volunteers are fingerprinted through FieldPrint and subject to their background check. See link for Level 2 information. Volunteer Fingerprinting
NOTE: In Florida, the entire arrest record can be revealed to school districts, including sealed records, expunged records, military court proceedings, and juvenile records.
